DR. NII KWAKU SOWA - BOARD CHAIRMAN

Dr. Nii Sowa is an Economist.
He read Economics and Mathematics for his first degree at the University of Ghana, Legon. He continued with graduate work at the Queen’s University and McMaster University, both in Canada.

He has since been a Lecturer, Researcher, Economic Consultant and Policy Analyst.
He lectured for several years at the Department of Economics of the University of Ghana, Legon, and was once the Head of the Department. He joined the Centre for Policy Analysis in 1996 as a Core Research Fellow, and was engaged in policy research for a period of 10 years.

Nii Sowa has served as an Economic Consultant to several international organizations including the World Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UN-ECA), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Canadian International Development Agency, and the British Department for International Development (DfID).

He has held several international lecturing and research positions at highly reputable foreign institutions including the Oxford University, the University of Warwick, and the Overseas Development Institute, all in the UK. He has also been a visiting scholar to the Research Department of the IMF. In 1997, he was named the First Michael Bruno Visiting Fellow to the World Bank for his research contributions in understanding inflation.

Earlier his work on Monetary Control in Ghana had won the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences best academic article award for 1991. Dr. Sowa has published widely in academic journals and books, mostly in the areas of Money and Banking and Economic Policy Management issues.

In addition to serving on boards of several organizations, he remains the longest serving member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of Ghana. He was a Commissioner (2002-2005) and later the Director General (2005-2011) of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Nii Sowa currently runs his own economic consultancy, Sowa & Associates, and is also President of EDPRI an economic and development think-tank.
Dr. Sowa provides strategic support in the area of leadership and stakeholder engagement.

Yaw Nii Lante Ofori-Adjei is senior manager at the top tier US Investment Bank, Morgan Stanley International. Yaw joined Morgan Stanley European Fixed Income control division in July 2010 and his product expertise covers the suite of Fixed Income products (FX, Interest Rates, Corporate Credit, Relationship Lending and Securitized Products) as well as Debt and Equity Capital Markets. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Yaw spent three (3) years as an Associate Director at Ernst & Young EMEIA FSO practice which provides an extensive range of Audit, Tax, Corporate Finance and business advisory services to European financial services organisations.

Yaw began his career in Accra, Ghana at the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) in 1998 before joining Deloitte & Touche in 2000. Yaw’s core expertise stretches across the financial services industry in corporate strategy execution and finance control, Yaw Nii Lante Ofori-Adjei is senior manager at the top tier US Investment

Yaw is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments (CISI). Yaw has an MBA from Warwick Business School, University of Warwick.

 

ANDREW KWABENA ASAMOAH

ANDREW KWABENA ASAMOAH - Member

Mr Andrew Kwabena Asamoah is currently the Executive Chairman of A & C Development Co. Ltd, which owns the A & C Shopping Mall, now rebranded as A&C Square. He is also a lawyer and a career diplomat. A&C Development Co. Ltd, which he
chairs, is a fast growing real estate and construction company which is building properties in many parts of the capital city, with its flagship
being the shopping mall.
Mr Asamoah had a fruitful career with the World Health Organisation (WHO), which he started at a prime age of 22. His work within the WHO
took him to the WHO Regional Office for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo, Nigeria right up to the WHO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
His hard work at WHO saw him rise through the ranks into various positions, including Chief of Personnel; he also became Special Adviser
to the Director-General of WHO on Constitutional Reforms and Regional Arrangements and Director, Career Development Service/Global Security
Coordinator. He retired as the Director of Administration and Finance at the Regional WHO Office for Europe in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Mr. Asamoah obtained a General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) Ordinary Level and RSA certificate from Ghana. He is also a qualified
lawyer and obtained certificates in public relations, journalism and many other disciplines from other jurisdictions.

MIKE NYINAKU

MIKE NYINAKU - CEO

A professional accountant by training and architect at heart, Mike prefers to be referred to as a student of entrepreneurship. Mike founded The BEIGE Group (TBG) in 2008 after a successful career as a Professional Accountant for 10 years.

TBG is a financial services provider with subsidiaries providing Banking, Insurance, Pensions, Investment management and advisory services. Beyond the provision of basic financial intermediation services TBG has a private equity arm that actively invests in and promotes the development of small and medium size entreprises of African origin including start-ups.

BEIGE Capital Savings & Loans (BCSL) – a flagship subsidiary of TBG, has been the leading provider of retail banking services to the informal sector of Ghana since 2014. Together with its direct subsidiaries and other investee companies, TBG is providing direct employment to about 5,000 people while impacting on more than 20,000 individuals and economic units on a daily basis.

The BEIGE Foundation (BF) is also another initiative of Mike Nyinaku. Established on the principles of integrity and self-belief, BF promotes youth and social development through a variety of sponsored programs implemented across Ghana. Notable amongst the initiatives of BF is the Youth Excellence League (YEL). YEL is a life skills development program that recognises and celebrates youth who demonstrate exceptional talent.

As Chief Finance Officer for OICI-GH – a US based NGO; he had responsibility for providing financial planning, financial management, capacity building and technical advice on multiple community development programs that were implemented by the organization in several locations in Ghana and across West Africa. Mike served OICI – Ghana between 2001 and 2008. Prior to this he trained for 2 years as a finance and audit specialist with Deloitte & Touché.

An award winning entrepreneur highly regarded as one of Ghana’s emerging business leaders, Mike has demonstrated throughout his career, profound intellectual capacity in matters relating to finance as well as continuous leadership in business excellence. In 2012 at the national youth awards ceremony, Mike was recognized by the then president of Ghana as both the youth personality for finance and the ultimate youth personality of Ghana, all in recognition of his selfless efforts at business development and employment creation. In 2016 he was again recognized as the 6th most influential person in Ghana.

Mike’s ambition is to continue pursuing entrepreneurial aspirations as a means of influencing and inspiring a new breed of leaders from Africa.

He is a fellow of the ACCA.

GEORGE APPAH KWABENG

GEORGE APPAH KWABENG - BOARD SECRETARY

George, a naturally conservative individual, is a highly respectable product of the prestigious Achimota School, where he obtained both his O’ and A’ Level Certificates. A distinguished graduate of Lancaster University in the United Kingdom with certification in LLM (International Business and Corporate Law), George is also an alumnus of both the University of Ghana and the Ghana School of Law, where he obtained the LL.B (Hons) and Qualified Certificate in Law respectively.

He previously worked as an Associate Lawyer in two (2) leading law firms in Ghana: Minkah-Premo & Co. and Fugar & Co. respectively, where he honed his expertise in Corporate Law and Litigation. In 2009, George had a stint with lecturing in Criminal Law at the Zenith College in Accra.

Prior to joining BCSL, he worked as a Legal Officer with Intercontinental Bank (Ghana) Limited (now Access Bank) and subsequently, as the Head of Credit Control of United Bank for Africa (Ghana) Limited, where he rose to the position of the Head of Credit Risk Management, culminating

in a wealth of experience in both the legal and credit risk management aspects of banking.

George, a member of the Ghana Bar Association and a proud Alumnus of Chevening, has his strengths visibly displayed in Negotiations and drafting of Legal Agreements

RICHARD KWAME KWAE

RICHARD KWAME KWAE - MEMBER

RICHARD KWAME KWAE graduated from the Business School of the University of Ghana in June 1999 with a BSc Administration (Accounting Option – first class honours). He passed the final certificate exams of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICA Gh) in November 1999. In April 2001, he was admitted as a certified member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana.

In October 1999, Richard joined the merged firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers Ghana office as an accountant trainee. In PricewaterhouseCoopers, he served clients in financial services, mining and energy consumer and industrial products, governmental ministries, non-governmental organizations, and donor aid agencies.

In serving these clients, Richard was involved in financial audits, financial management and due diligence reviews, information system reviews and pre-disbursement surveys of a portfolio of public and private companies and non-governmental organizations.

In March 2003, he resigned from PricewaterhouseCoopers as Senior Associate 1 and joined Tractor and Equipment Ghana Limited (authorised CATERPILAR dealer in Ghana) as the Senior Accountant and was responsible for developing and implementing financial and related information systems, assisting management to set strategy and objectives by providing financial expertise and review of business performance, recruitment, selection and development of personnel within the finance
department, establishing and maintaining professional relationships with colleagues, clients and others, treasury management and budget preparation.

In July 2005, he was given additional responsibilities to oversee the finance function in Tractor and Equipment Sierra Leone and was equally tasked to ensure a successful introduction and implementation of the group’s accounting software (IAS CODA) in that territory. Sierra Leone IAS CODA implementation after signed off was deemed one of the most successful within the group.

After four years of successful career with Tractor and Equipment Ghana Limited, he resigned in May 2007 and joined Toyota Ghana Company Limited as the Financial Controller.
